With over 260 beaches to choose from, the island of Mallorca is blessed with long stretches of white sand, turquoise seas and quiet scenic coves.

Southwest Mallorca has made deciding which ones to visit on your holiday a little easier for you by coming up our own list of the top beaches of Mallorca.

Santa Ponsa Beach

This family friendly beach lies just 20 kms southwest of Palma. The wide stretch of soft sand is surrounded by palm trees which provide shade in mid day heat. Shallow and calm waters means this beach is safe for families and is popular in high season. Activities available on Santa Ponsa Beach include Jetski’s, kayaks and water bikes. There are 2-3 beach bars with a wider selection of restaurants and bars lining the street that runs adjacent to the beach. If you are driving to the beach, there is free car parking available.

Camp de Mar

This family friendly beach is smaller than Santa Ponsa beach but at 180 metres long and 60 metres wide provides ample amount of space. Fine golden white sand lapped by a beautiful green colour sea, the calm waters makes this beach good for children and the beach can be busy in August. There is a wooden bridge leading to a very good restaurant which is very popular, with various other bars and restaurants close to the beach. Snorkelling is excellent here and you can also hire pedalos. The beach has disabled access and has lifeguards on duty, with toilets and showers on hand. Adequate car parking can be found around the resort.

Cala Vinyas

This gorgeous little bay is only 2km from Magaluf, it is 60 metres long and 80 metres wide and does not get crowded. The bay is very scenic with palm trees and shallow waters. The beach is very child friendly with plenty of space and a playground available. This beach is a quiet option to go for as there are no watersports available here. This is the perfect beach just to sit, lay back and spend some quality time with the family. There is a beach bar available and a restaurant in a hotel close to the beach. Sunbeds and parasols can be hired and you can park the car for free in spaces close to the beach.

Playa de Muro, Alcudia

This has to feature on any top 10 beaches list of Mallorca. Yes it is up in the North of the island but with a 6 mile stretch of soft sand and the resort of Alcudia having so much to offer, it had to appear on our list too!! With numerous bars and restaurants you will be spoilt for choice for dinner, snacks and beverages. The beach is linked to the popular resort of Alcudia and the quieter resort of C’an Picafort. As the beach is so long, it has been split into 2 sections, the first section being the most cental. From this section you will find tour boats sailing from a wooden pier. All sorts of watersports are available on this beach from, jet skis to paragliding. For a more serene experience, the beach is also haven for birdwatchers as you can access S’Albufera nature reserve, here you have the opportunity to spot Montagu’s Harriers, Eleanora’s Falcons and Ospreys. To get the Playa de Muro, you can access from Alcudia or C’an Picafort, there are designated parking spots along the beach.

Es Trenc

Close to Palma this laid back beach is the most famous beach on the island, it is the most natural beach on our list as it has not been spoilt by big hotels or lots of restaurants. More than 2 kms long, the beach is covered by bright grainy sand, with sand dunes at the back of the beach but sunbathing here is not prohibited. The beach is tropical in appearance due to the turquoise hue on the sea, this truly is one of the most beautiful spots on Mallorca. No watersports on this idyllic beach, the only mode of transport you will see are catamarans, yachts and sailboats at anchor. Es Trenc is the most popular naturist beach, there are marked points to these area but most visitors wear swimsuits. The beach is very child friendly with very shallow water, however if there is onshore wind they may be high waves. There are pay to park spaces along the beach and a splattering of restaurants and cafes to sit and enjoy your meal with a view. There is a mini market in the small town of Ses Covetes.

Playa de Palma

Located near Palma, the capital city, Playa de Palma is a long, sandy beach with a vibrant atmosphere. It is well-equipped with facilities, including beach bars, restaurants, and water sports activities. In a fantastic location for exporing the city too.

Cala Agulla

Situated on the northeast coast, Cala Agulla is a beautiful, unspoiled beach surrounded by pine forests. The clear blue waters and fine white sand make it a popular choice for both locals and tourists

Cala Mondrago

Situated within the Mondragó Natural Park on the southeast coast, Cala Mondragó is a picturesque beach with fine sand and shallow waters. It is an ideal spot for families and nature lovers.

Cala Formentor

Located on the northern tip of the island, Cala Formentor is a stunning beach with crystal-clear waters and views of the Tramuntana mountains. It's surrounded by pine forests and is a favorite among nature enthusiasts.
