Pollenca Town

Pollenca is a charming town in the North of the Island. There is a lot to discover here with it's narrow streets and main square. There are several places of interest including the Pont Romas and Puig de Pollensa. Meander throught Pollensa's many streets where you will find lots of small shops and boutiques selling crafts, leather goods, jewellery and more.

History

The town has a long and storied history, with evidence of human settlement dating back to prehistoric times. The Romans, Moors, and Christians have all left their mark on Pollença, contributing to its diverse cultural heritage.

Old Town

The heart of Pollença is its charming Old Town, characterised by narrow winding streets, historic buildings, and traditional architecture. The town has successfully preserved its medieval character, offering visitors a glimpse into its past.

Placa Major

Otherwise known as the Main Square and where you will find an abundance of activity. This is the scene for one of the best Sunday Markets in Mallorca. Situated in the heart of the town, it is surrounded by cobbled streets and historic buildings. Also surrounded by many cafes and restaurants, it is the perfect spot to soak in the local culture, pastry and a coffee!

The chuch of Sant Jordi - dominating one side of the square is this impressive church. It is a landmark in Pollenca and dates back to the 13th Centuary and is particularly noted for its Baroque facade.

Cultural Events - the square plays host to many events and festivals throughout the year. These will include live music/dancing and local celebrations.

Steps of El Calvari : These 365 steps will lead you to the top of a hill and a former monastery and college. The climb is well worth the panoramic views of the town itself.

The Puig

The Puig ( mountain ) is 330 metres high and is reached within an hour. There is shade avaialble on the way up. Panoramic views are seen from the top. During the Spring fair there is a family friendly fiesta where you can feast on giant Paellas!

Visit a Vineyard

Bodega C'an Vidalet is only 4km away from the town. This is a modern Vineyard and produces wines such as Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanca and more.

You will be spoilt for choice with restaurants in town. Here are a few worth checking out :

La Braseria

This is a high quality restaurant which serves lamb and beef from the Josper Charcoal Over. Fish dishes area also available and is well worth the 5 minute drive from the Town. Reservations are taken Tel (+34)971 534 474

This is a family friendly Mallorcan restaurant serving Mediterranean cuisine including Suckling Pig, goat and Paella dishes. Currently rated on Trip Advisor as #2 Worth booking in advance Tel +34 971 53 19 50

This is in an excellent location on the main square in Pollenca. This is an elegant establishment which specialises in Italo-Mediterranean cuisine. Tapas, Fish, Meat, Vegetarian dishes are very popular. There is also a wine shop avaialble! Tel +34 971 53 02 39

Cantonet

This is a peaceful restaurant with a courtyard. This is a well loved Italian establishment with specialities including fresh pasta and fish dishes. A must visit. Tel +34 971 53 04 29

Events

Pollenca is host to numerous events during the year. Some of these include a battle re-inactment every August. Annual religious ceremonies are also popular and people travel from all over the Island to see them. There are also various concerts, art exhibitions and displays that are reguarly held.
