So the summer season may be coming to an end, that does not mean Mallorca comes to a stand still!
October is a popular time of year to visit, with the temperature still in the 20's, you can still sunbathe on the ( quieter ) beaches and enjoy all the harvest festivals on offer.
The Rural towns around the Island celebrate with their traditional fairs which include music/markets and parties.
Llucmajor's fair lasts until 21st October!!
October also sees an abudance of food fesitvals including the Mahi-Mahi fish festival which takes place in Cala Ratjada between 12th - 14th.
Oktoberfest returns to celebrate for all the German contingency on the Island!
Palma's Pueblo Espanol Oktoberfest is on now and will continue until October 14th, Thursdays- Sundays only, a great feast of Germanic gastronomy ( and beer!! ).
The beginning of October welcomes the Port Adriano
Doggie Race. The marina hosts a 2km run for dogs and their owners.
Th aim of the event is to raise awareness on keeping a pet and to make Calvia a more oet friendly place.
For Tennis lovers, 4th - 7th October sees the Legends Cup Tennis Tournament retun at Palma Sport and Tennis Clubs. Tennis legends including Tum Henman, Carlos Moya and Martina Hingus will be taking part.
5th October is when the Mostra Cuines de Calva ( food show ) starts. Special offers are available in restaurants in Calvia, prices for a 3 course meal start from €12. Only certain restaurants will participate.
One of the most popular horse attractions in Mallorca opens on 6th October. The horse trotting races in Manacor has been entertaining guests for the last 200 years on Mallorca and Menora, an ever popular event, booking in advance is essential.
For any budding Chess champions, the Calvia Chess festival starts on 6th October in Palma Nova.
Between 11th - 14th Inca hosts a Lindy Hop Festival
. For all dance enthusiasts, workshops, dance lessons and exhibitions will be available. It dont mean a thing if it aint got that swing!!
12th October sees a 3 day Frisbee Tournament in Port D'Alcudia, taking in all levels and nationalities. You can enter as teams or individuals. The event is held on the beach and there will be a Disney themed party.
Get those trainers on!! 14th October sees the Palma de Mallorca Marathon. Thousands of runners line up to compete in events and races over the weekend. A half marathon, 10km race, pasta party and the kid's run are just some of the events available.
18th October welcomes one of the World's largets charity golf events. The Pinmar Golf Tournament has rasied almost 850,000€ for well worthy causes.
20th October is the Procession of the blessed in Palma de Mallorca where the streets are full of colour and the Traditional chariot parade takes place. Dancing in front of the Church of Santa Magdalena sees the end of the event. Celebrating all things vinal now at the Palma Arena starting on 20th October, 50 stands selling CD'S, LP'S, books, posters and other memorabilia with live music and exhibitions.

23rd October see the Mallorcan Tango Festival, held in Cala Mayor, brush up on those dancing skills, learn how to perfect the Gancho....classes, workshops and stunning performances will all be available.
